Polimana (they/them) is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and multi-media artist based currently in California. They have written, recorded, mixed, mastered and self-released 6 EPs, and featured on records by Jessica’s Brother, Hiroki Sugi and Ladyfern, among others. They have received a grant from the Rainey Day Fund, a scholarship to attend South Porch Artist Residency, and they have played and taught at the Humboldt Folklife Festival two years in a row.

Poli has been playing music since childhood, first at the feet of their Grandma Leilani, and then at the stoop of their mind palace. Many masters have come to offer their tutelage, and Poli has committed much time and energy to such masters, though circumstances have always brought them back to a wander. No art is developed in a vacuum; indeed, most of their art was conceived in open air. These masters and their lessons left a lasting impact on Polimana’s approach. Mr. Yu said: “Go out there, and do your thing.” A huge impact on teenage Poli. This is my thing, it does not belong to anyone else.

Music is a gift, music can be pure love, music is the voice of the Great Spirit to which Polimana devotes their whole life.
